The youngest chess grandmaster ever

The chess world is full of child prodigies, however, there is one special kid from New Jersey who's becoming making a real name for himself.

Abhimanyu Mishra (2009) is the current youngest chess grandmaster with a FIDE rating of 2524.

Last year, the young prodigy got the title at only 12 years, four months and 25 days, dethroning Karjakin.

To become a grandmaster he got three norms and satisfied the Elo rating requirement of 2500 points.

Abhimanyu got his last norm on the Vezérképző GM Mix in Budapest, Hungary; with a rating performance of 2619.

In 2021 he also competed in the World Championship. Sadly he was eliminated in the 1st round by the grandmaster Baadur Jobava.

This amazing chess talent has even been recognized by Magnus Carslen, the current world champion.

Last month, Mishra competed in the Saint Louis Championship, and he was a big surprise again with 7 points over 9.

Recently, he took 2nd place in the Reikiavik Open, just behind the indian prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa.
