FAREWELL

The popular video game will now be called EA Sports FC

TO FIFA

After three decades, Electronic Arts' soccer sim is to become  EA Sports FC, after the developer ended its partnership with FIFA.

However, EA still has the rights to 19,000 real players from 30 leagues and 700 clubs. The new game will  also dive deeper into women’s soccer.

EA Sports FC's commitment to the women’s game is one of its major advances. It’s likely that gameplayers will be able to create mixed teams.

According to pre-release leaks, women’s soccer will be included  in Ultimate Team, the most popular mode in EA's games so far.

EA Sports FC 24 is scheduled to  come out in September, but the first teaser has already been published. It features legends of the sport.

EA has also released a gameplay  trailer in which it’s clear  to see that players’ movements  have become even more realistic.

The publisher has also confirmed what had been an open secret: Erling Haaland will be the cover star of the first instalment of EA Sports FC.

The Manchester City star replaces PSG’s Kylian Mbappé, who had adorned the cover of the final three editions of EA Sports’ FIFA series.

New name aside, EA Sports FC is  set to be much the same as FIFA;  the gameplaying experience is expected to be every bit as good.
