Since her debut with Barcelona's first team in 2016, Aitana has already achieved the conquest of nineteen team titles and twelve individual awards.
In 2023, the midfielder was crowned the world's best player, winning the Ballon d'Or, the World Cup, and the Champions League in the same year.
In both finals, she was chosen as MVP of the match, becoming the first and only player in the history of both men's and women's football to achieve this.
She was also selected as FIFA's The Best and the best in Europe by UEFA. In her thank you speech, she delivered a message of support to women.
"To Jenni and to all women, we stand with you and will continue working to improve society," said Aitana referencing the 'unwanted kiss'.
In fact, even her surname has a feminist story behind it. When she was born in 1998, they wanted to use her mother's surname, but the law prevented it.
Her case set a precedent in Spain. Thanks to her parents' persistence, the law allowed choosing the child's surname from the year 2000 onwards.
Bonmatí's commitment to social causes also extends to refugees. She is a member of UNHCR and collaborates with several NGOs.
She gave her prize of over $50,000 for being 2021 Champions League MVP to improving the conditions of refugees in the camps of Lesbos.
After winning the 2023 Champions League, she demonstrated this further by wearing a shirt encouraging people to be more welcoming to refugees.
This year she has been nominated for the Laureus Awards, and in 2023 she was the only player included in the BBC's 100 most influential people.
