CHASES HISTORY

The prolific striker has the Bundesliga's single-season goals record in his sights

Striker Harry Kane is banging in the goals for Bayern Munich, whose €100m summer investment already looks like fantastic business.

After a summer in which he was also linked with Real Madrid, who opted against signing him over his age, Kane is showing what he is made of.

The 30-year-old leads this season’s Bundesliga goal charts with 22 goals  in 18 appearances - a haul that includes three separate hat-tricks.

Kane, who has 28 goals in 25  games in all competitions, leads the race for the European Golden Shoe ahead of PSG’s Kylian Mbappé.

And the England captain’s  Bundesliga tally so far leaves him within reach of the league’s record for the most goals in a single season.

It’s currently held by former Bayern  ace Robert Lewandowski, who plundered 41 Bundesliga goals for the Bavarians in the 2020/21 season.

Kane - who has also registered six assists in the Bundesliga this season - is on pace to equal Lewandowski’s historic tally as things stand.

So it’s far to say that Kane has wasted no time in becoming a key figure at Bayern. Indeed, he even had a hand in the club's January signing of Eric Dier.

Despite his goals, however, Bayern  are only second in the Bundesliga table, four points behind Xabi Alonso’s undefeated Bayer Leverkusen.
