The Italian has won more European Cup games than any other coach

ANOTHER RECORD FOR

ANCELOTTI

Last week, Real Madrid reached the Champions League knockout stages  for the 27th successive season by  beating Braga 3-0 at the Bernabéu.

The victory over the Portuguese  club saw Madrid boss Carlo  Ancelotti become the coach with the most wins in European Cup history.

Ancelotti has won 116 of the 201 European Cup games he has overseen at Madrid, Parma, Milan, PSG,  Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern and Napoli.

He's overtaken Sir Alex Ferguson, who registered 115 wins in 13 more games. Ancelotti has also lifted more European Cups than any other coach: four.

Ancelotti and Ferguson are followed  in the European Cup wins charts by Pep Guardiola (108), Arsène Wenger (101) and José Mourinho (80).

Ancelotti boasts one of soccer’s  most trophy-laden coaching CVs:  so far, he has won 26 pieces of silverware for five different clubs.

He also has the honour of being Madrid’s third-highest appearance maker as a coach. He’s on pace to leapfrog Zinedine Zidane into  second by the end of the season.

However, with Brazil eager to hire  the Italian as their coach, it’s unclear how much longer he’ll carry on breaking records at Real Madrid.

Whatever happens, though,  Ancelotti will go down as a coaching great. And he could well embellish his Madrid legacy yet further this year.
