LUKA DONCIC
is Batman now
Despite the fact that he retired from his national team, Goran Dragic (36 years old) will be in the Eurobasket with Slovenia, defending their 2017 title.
“Then, I was Batman, but now, I'm going to be Robin," said Dragic, making it clear that, five years later, Doncic is the absolute leader.
In 2017, Dragic averaged 22.6 points and 5.1 assists. Doncic, at 18 years old, averaged 14.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. And Slovenia won gold.
Now they are looking to repeat the European crown, something only Spain has accomplished in the last quarter century, with titles in 2009 and 2011.
Doncic wants to get rid of the bad taste in his mouth after his team finished in fourth place in Tokyo.
A terrible defeat (90-89) against France left Slovenia without a final. Then the bronze slipped away in the match against Australia.
Doncic averaged 23.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 9.5 assists. And he put up 48 points in the first Olympic Game against Argentina.
At the end of the tournament, Doncic looked tired. Now, he's showing his physical shape that even went viral on social media.
"He contacted me as soon as the Mavericks season was over. He wanted to start training immediately," said his trainer Anze Macek.
Doncic is one of the faces of the tournament, along with Giannis, Jokic, Gobert… for many, this Eurobasket could be the best in history.
This comes after his third All Star and his first NBA Conference final. In the playoffs he averaged 31.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 6.4 assists.
