Per Le Parisien, the striker stands to earn €630m. PSG deny this
CONTRACT CONTROVERSY
Le Parisien, one of France’s leading newspapers, has disclosed the figures allegedly involved in Kylian Mbappé’s big-money PSG contract.
Per Le Parisien, Mbappé stands to earn €630m over three years. That includes an annual salary of €72m, and an €180m signing-on fee.
The striker also gets large loyalty bonuses, it is claimed: €70m in the first year of his contract, €80m in the second, and €90m in the third.
PSG have denied Le Parisien’s report - and aren’t ruling out taking legal action against the newspaper…
Mbappé’s having a difficult season. He hasn’t been PSG’s top performer; instead, it’s Lionel Messi and Neymar who have been the match winners.
And the Frenchman is unhappy about PSG’s transfer business, particularly the failure to sign Aurélien Tchouaméni. Will he still be in Paris come 2025?
Rumours of a January exit have grown in recent weeks. Earlier this month, however, the player denied talk of a departure.
“I never asked to leave in January - that’s completely untrue,” Mbappé said after PSG’s Ligue 1 win over Marseille on 16 October.
Neymar is key to his future. Citing sources close to Mbappé and PSG, El País says his decision to renew included an unspoken condition...
...which is as follows: the player will only remain in Paris for the duration of his PSG deal if Neymar is sold.
In Mbappé’s view, Neymar’s ill discipline on and off the pitch undermine results and the overall project at the Ligue 1 club.
With a long season ahead and the World Cup coming up, the Mbappé saga is red hot right now. What does the future hold for him?
