HIS NAME'S BOND,

Sergio Sánchez Fuentes / William Allen

The actor holds the record for the  most movie appearances in a single year

WARD BOND

These days, big-screen audiences have got used to seeing the world’s most prominent movie stars appear in a couple of films each year.

Although that won’t be true of Zendaya next year, as she’s due to feature in Dune 3, The Odyssey, Shrek 4 and Spider-Man 4

However, Zendaya’s forthcoming tally doesn’t even come close  to the record for film appearances  by an actor in a single year.

That mark is held by Ward Bond, who was on the cast of 31 movies  in 1935. It’s a record that seems impossible to beat nowadays.

Bond became one of his era’s most iconic supporting actors, establishing himself among Hollywood’s most recognizable faces at the time.

The Nebraska native’s major film credits include roles in Bringing  up Baby, It’s a Wonderful Life  and Gone with the Wind.

During his Hollywood career,  Bond appeared in no fewer than  237 films, generally in hugely influential supporting roles.

The actor had an excellent relationship with John Wayne, appearing alongside the silver-screen great in 23 movies during his career.

Most notably, Bond starred  alongside Wayne in The Searchers, Fort Apache and 3 Godfathers, all directed by the legendary John Ford.

One of Bond’s final films also saw him feature alongside Wayne:  Rio Bravo, a picture considered  one of the best westerns in history.

Bond died at the age of 57 in  1960, after suffering a heart attack.  It was Wayne who gave the  eulogy at his close friend’s funeral.
