TO LOVE

FROM HATE

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams  couldn't stand each other, then hooked up.

Iconic couples in cinema have always been plentiful. Today, there's the example of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

In their time, the most successful couple was Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, whose box office hits were mirrored by their personal success.

Another romance that emerged from Hollywood was that of Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, who met during The Notebook.

Nick Cassavetes' film was an adaptation of the novel, and told the story of a romance between two people from different social classes.

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling played the leading couple who were supposed to fall in love on screen, but reality was quite different.

Both actors are said to have hated each other at the start of production, to the point that Gosling even asked for McAdams to be replaced.

Nick Cassavetes, tired of the actors' nonsense, locked them in a room until they worked out their differences together.

And, as if by magic, they did. Ryan and Rachel began to get along and even started a romantic relationship shortly afterward.

An interesting fact about the now former couple is that they are both from the same town in Canada: London, Ontario.

The Notebook also gave us what is, for many, one of the greatest kisses in the history of cinema.

It was the last great film of the legendary Gena Rowlands, mother of director Nick Cassavetes, who passed away a few months ago.
