SUPERSTITIOUS

Liverpool face Man City on matchday 13 - and the Reds' boss won't like that one bit

Being Liverpool boss is a demanding job - particularly if your predecessor  is none other than Jürgen Klopp. But  Arne Slot has made it look easy so far.

In his opening months at Anfield, Slot has racked up an impressive record. The Reds have lost just once, and are clear at the top of the league.

The Dutchman is a coach who takes  care of every last detail. So much  so, indeed, that he follows a particular superstition before every match.

According to the Daily Mail, Slot  avoids looking at his watch at 13:13  on game days. Like many people, he views 13 as an unlucky number.

Curiously, Liverpool's No. 13 shirt has this season been left vacant for  the first time in six years, coinciding with Slot’s arrival on Merseyside.

Alisson wore the number in his first season with the Reds. When he switched to No. 1, Adrián took over the No. 13 until his summer departure.

This weekend, Liverpool face Man City - and one particular detail may be making Slot nervous: it’s a Premier League matchday-13 clash.

City may have been in free fall of  late, but they represent a major hurdle for Liverpool. Will week 13 be lucky  or unlucky for superstitious Slot?
