NFL legend Tom Brady, who retired from playing in February, has added another sports team to his growing ownership portfolio.
Already a stakeholder in WNBA and pickleball teams, Brady has now joined the ownership group at English soccer club Birmingham City.
He will be chairman of Birmingham's advisory board, consulting on areas such as health, nutrition and recovery programmes.
“Tom Brady joining the Birmingham City team is a statement of intent,” says club chairman Tom Wagner. “We are setting the bar at world class.”
Brady, meanwhile, says: “Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honour for me.”
The former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback, who is a seven-time Super Bowl champion, is considered the greatest player in NFL history.
Birmingham are currently in the second tier of English league soccer. They finished down in 17th last term, but are now eyeing promotion.
The Midlands club was where midfielder Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid’s marquee signing this summer, began his career.
Bellingham starred for Birmingham from the moment he made the first team - and the club retired his shirt number when he left in 2020.
Hugely proud of his roots, he stunned fans in Birmingham with a surprise appearance at an Adidas pop-up store just days after his Madrid unveiling.
