BANGING 'EM IN
Omar Marmoush has been on fire for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, out-scoring Bayern star Harry Kane
IN THE BUNDESLIGA
Hot shot Harry Kane hasn’t lacked challengers in the Bundesliga goal charts: last year the Bayern striker's main rival was Serhou Guirassy, and this season it’s Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush has been on fire for Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring eight goals and supplying four assists in six league appearances in 2024/25.
On Sunday, the Egyptian starred against Bayern, scoring two and setting up another in a 3-3 draw. Kane, who has five league goals this season, drew a blank.
Former Paris Saint-Germain player Hugo Ekitiké had been expected to be Eintracht’s main man in attack, but Marmoush has outshone him.
The 25-year-old arrived in Germany in 2017, joining Wolfsburg. He struggled to establish himself, and was loaned out to St Pauli and Stuttgart.
After spending the 2022/23 campaign back at Wolfsburg, he moved to Frankfurt on a free transfer. He netted 12 times in his first year at Eintracht - and has exploded this season.
Marmoush is a similar player to compatriot Mo Salah. Although he plays at centre-forward, he tends to drift out wide and is a great finisher.
In Egypt, Marmoush is seen as the heir to his superstar international team-mate, who helped him to take his first steps in European soccer.
“All us Egyptian players in Europe get on really well,” Marmoush has said. “We try to support each other because we know settling in isn’t easy.”
“Offers are expected from all over the world,” Marmoush’s agent said in March. On current form, it won’t be long before he’s snapped up.
