After being offloaded by boyhood  club Barça, Puig has flourished at  MLS franchise Los Angeles Galaxy

RIQUI PUIG:

If they don’t make the grade at  Barça, many youth products struggle  to get back on track. But not Riqui  Puig: he’s found his niche in MLS.

Since joining Los Angeles Galaxy in 2022, Puig has blossomed from Camp Nou reject into one of the North American league’s major stars.

In MLS this season, the midfielder has racked up 11 goals and seven  assists for the Galaxy. He is clearly loving his soccer right now.

Puig’s goal celebrations are viral sensations. He’s offered up memorable moments like this one, when he did Michael Jackson’s ‘moonwalk’.

And this Spain-themed celebration, when he whipped off his shirt and pretended to be a bullfighter. Galaxy’s fans absolutely love him.

While Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami are widely tipped for the MLS title, the Galaxy have emerged as major challengers for the league crown.

Having come second-bottom of the Western Conference last year, Puig and the Galaxy are top in 2024 and have already sealed a playoff spot.

This summer, the five-time MLS champions added a European legend  to their roster: Marco Reus signed on after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

At 25, Puig still has time for another crack at the European game. And right now, he wouldn’t lack suitors if he opted to head back across the pond.
